Dr. Sallustio is a trained maxillofacial prosthodontist, working with several craniofacial centers and at times in other countries helping patients and doctors abroad provide this valuable and unique service.

When part of the head or neck is missing from cancer, Drs. Sallustio or Azizian is called upon. In cases of oral cancer where a part of the palate has been removed, an obturator prosthesis is fabricated and placed in most cases at the time of surgery. A visit prior to surgery is required for this procedure.

Cleft palate still affects 1 in 800 births. Drs. Sallustio works with craniofacial specialists at the Craniofacial & Swallowing Center, St. Josephs Hospital & Medical Center in Paterson, NJ. From the 1-week-old to adult patients, prosthetic intervention is a vital part of the cleft palate rehabilitation. Our services range from pre-surgical orthopedics including NAM appliance therapy to replacement of congenitally missing teeth.

Facial prosthetics are skin-like prostheses that replace parts of the head. We have the ability to fabricate an ear, nose, eye or sometimes a combination for those patients missing such structures from cancer, trauma, or congenital defects. All services are fabricated on our premises.

Facial Prosthetics

Drs. Sallustio provides those patients who have lost a part of the face from trauma or cancer with a life- like artificial replacements. With the aid of specialized titanium implants placed by Oral & Maxillofacial or Plastic Surgeons, Drs. Sallustio can direct the fabrication of a prosthetic ear, nose, or eye in order to restore a patient’s appearance with the confidence of retaining or holding the prosthesis.

Sports Custom Face Shield

The office can fabricate customized face shields to protect injuries to the face. These guards are made only with a physician’s request in order to protect the athlete from further trauma.
